To make Dalmore King Alexander III, Master Distiller Richard Paterson selected a range of differently aged malts matured in a mixture of French wine casks, Madeira drums, sherry butts, Marsala barrels, port pipes, and bourbon barrels from Kentucky.
Nose: Initially particularly malty, generous, and fruity (candied citrus fruit, grapefruit juice, vine peaches), it also reveals a vinous, patisserie character (brioche, pastry cream). Orange zest adds tremendous freshness to this veritable dessert buffet of flavors.
Palate: Rich, full-bodied. Powerfully fruity, marmalade mingles with nutty flavors (toasted walnuts and cashews). A gentle, fine bitterness gradually dominates. The malt comes back in force, accompanied by red fruit (blackcurrants) and muscat grapes.
Cheers, and enjoy this whiskey!
