Del Maguey Madrecuixe Mezcal is a limited edition mezcal made in San Luis del Rio, from the brand's Vino de Mezcal series.
Madrecuixe is a wild agave that takes 10 to 15 years to fully grow and is harvested 3,000 ft high in elevation. The piñas are earth-roasted for 3 to 8 days and their juices pressed using a traditional stone mill. It is naturally fermented in a wooden vat for 6 to 8 days and double distilled in copper stills. It is bottled at 47% ABV.
Banana leaf, green papaya, just-mown alfalfa, tarragon, and fresh-cut bamboo, give way to circus peanuts and sweet, fresh-forward tropical fruits of mango, pineapple, and chicozapote. This extremely rare wild mezcal is silky, elegant, medium-bodied, with a long, dry, clean, dusty finish.
Cheers, and enjoy this tequila!
